Maher Zain -Lahir 16 Maret 1981 Tripoli, Lebanon. -Genre R&B, Musik jiwa, Musik pop, Musik dunia, Musik akustik. -Pekerjaan Penyanyi, musisi, penulis lagu, komposer -Tahun aktif 2009–sekarang -Label Awakening Records, Sony Music Maher Zain adalah penyanyi R&B Swedia, penulis lagu dan produser musik asal Lebanon. Dia juga tinggal untuk sementara di Amerika Serikat. Album debutnya Thank You Allah, dengan 13 lagu dan dua lagu bonus dirilis pada 1 November 2009, dengan Versi Perkusi eksklusif dan Versi Perancis dirilis tak lama kemudian. Dia bernyanyi terutama dalam bahasa Inggris, namun juga, antara lain, dalam bahasa Perancis, Arab, Urdu, Turki, Melayu, dan Indonesia . Lagu yang berkesan menurutnya adalah lagu dengan judul Thank you Allah. Karena lagu tersebut diakui mewakili perjalanan hidupnya. From wrong to the right way. Kehidupan awal Keluarganya pindah ke Swedia ketika Maher masih umur delapan tahun, disana ia melanjutkan pendidikannya. Maher mendapat keyboard pertama ketika ia berusia sepuluh tahun. Musik…Secerca Harapan dan Impian Kami. Sebuah kata yang tak asing lagi ditelinga kita, sebuah kata yang mungkin sudah menjadi keseharian kita baik itu mendengar atau menyebutkan kata musik dan tidak sedikit yang mengerti tentang musik, bahkan musik terkadang menjadi sebuah sumber inspirasi bagi kita disaat kita sedang senang, sedih, gembira dan jatuh cinta sekalipun, bahkan dengan alunan-alunan musik itu sendiri juga bisa menjadi sebuah motivator buat kita. Beranjak dari pola fikir seperti itulah maka kami memiliki sebuah impian untuk dapat eksis berkarya di blantika musik Indonesia dan mancanegara. Walaupun kami semua sadar bahwasanya proses yang akan kami lalui tidaklah mudah dan serta banyak sekali rintangan yang akan kami lalui diperjalanan karir kami, tetapi semua itu tidak menyurutkan motivasi dan semangat kami untuk terus berjuang demi menghasilkan karya- karya yang terbaik di blantika musik. Berdasarkan semangat itulah pada tanggal 31 oktober 1999 terbentuklah sebuah grup musik W A L I yang sebelumnya bernama FIERA, dengan personel Faank (Vocal), Tomi (Drum), Endang (Bass), Raden (Guitar II), dan, Apoy (Guitar I). FIERA menjadi sebuah komunitas yang kerap kali menghadirkan nafas tak hanya untuk berkesenian tapi perlahan dan pasti untuk terus dan terus memahami kehidupan. Sebab kesenian hanya bagian kecil dari kehidupan. Tapi tanpa kesenian sepertinya ada yang tidak hidup dalam kehidupan tersebut. FIERA terus melewati berbagai perubahan pemahaman dan keinginan baik secara institusi maupun personal. Ada yang pergi dan ada yang datang. Pada tahun 2007 awal, Endang dan Raden akhirnya tak dapat bergabung lagi bersama FIERA karena kesibukan masing-masing. Sebuah pukulan telak adalah kata- kata yang tepat untuk menggambarkan kondisi FIERA saat itu. Entah apa yang harus Fiera lakukan, tapi kami percaya semakin tinggi pohon semakin kencang anginnya, Fiera harus tetap tegak berdiri, karena FIERA adalah pohon kehidupan yang harus tetap tegak tumbuh dan merindangi lainnya. Ada sedikit perdebatan tentang posisi gitar 2, akankah harus tetap mencari pemain gitar lainnya atau dengan pergantian instrument…? dengan segala efesiensi, perdebatan itu diakhir dengan opsi pergantian instrument, yaitu tidak ada gitar 2 melainkan keyboard synthetizer untuk mempertebal harmonisasi lagu. Pilihan Fiera jatuh pada Ovie yang tak lain adalah keyboardist pengiring untuk sebuah paduan suara yang ada di kampus UIN Jakarta. Layaknya pengantin baru… kami mencoba saling memahami dan mengerti satu sama lain. Dan pada kesempatan yang sama juga kami mencoba meng-upgrade bersama daya juang kami. Tak tanggung-tanggung nama band inipun akhirnya kami sepakati untuk dirubah menjadi WALI band yang digawangi oleh Faank (Vocal), Apoy (Guitar/songs Writer), Tomi (Drum), & Ovie (Keyboard & Synt). Gayung bersambut, pada pertengahan tahun 2007 bersama manajer kami (Adzee) dan Positif Art management, kami mendapatkan kesempatan memasuki realita dunia rekaman bersama salah satu Major Label NAGASWARA. Semoga karya-karya kami dapat diterima oleh semua kalangan, itupun menjadi sebuah harapan besar bagi kami agar karya- karya kami dapat dinikmati oleh khalayak ramai. WALI adalah berasal dari kata yang amat memasyarakat yang berarti wakil. Mengapa dinamakan WALI,? karena salah satunya selain nama tersebut sangat mudah diucapkan oleh semua orang, sisi lainnya adalah kami (group WALI) dengan segala keterbatasan yang ada, berharap bisa mewakili segenap perasaan dan curahan hati manusia…tapi bila ada yang mengaitkan kami dengan WALI SONGO anggap saja BUY ONE GET ONE FREE…siapa yang tidak menginginkan hidup ini lebih dan lebih baik….semoga WALI band dan kita semua…!!!
